Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida

Participating Artists

Amber Ward
Hsin Fang
Merium Qureshi

About the artist-researchers: Hsin Fang, PhD Candidate in Art Education at Florida State University (FSU), explores immigrant mother-educators and relational art/craft through posthuman theory and affective pedagogy. Amber Ward, Associate Professor of Art Education at FSU, uses creative inquiry to investigate the material practices of craft, feminism, and sustainability. Merium Qureshi is an undergraduate student at FSU pursuing a double major in Art History and Human Rights & Social Justice.

About the work: Their volume of books, titled Binding Oddkin, enacts relational pedagogy by engaging participants and materials as co-creators. Acts of tearing and mending unsettle human exceptionalism and propose an ethically attentive, posthuman approach to art education.
