I grew up in Germany when the Berlin Wall was still intact, dividing East from West Germany. As a child, I was fascinated by this physical division between two countries that used to be unite. I visited the wall many times as a child and later, as an adult after the wall was dismantled and disseminated around the world.

My accordion book was created by printing my own photograph fragments of the Eastside Gallery murals that have been preserved and re-painted since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. These photos, printed on cotton fabric lengths that originally measured the height and depth of each concrete wall slab, are stitched into a series of small accordion books, installed to approximate a map of the former Berlin Wall.
